This month’s salon featured guests is Piyush Tewari, founder and CEO of the SaveLife Foundation whose mission is to reduce India's traffic accidents and fatalities.

Among the SaveLIFE’s models include national policymaking support, as well as grassroots interventions. In the recent past, they have also used strategic legal interventions to ensure safer roads for all.

Piyush Tewari, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF), a nonprofit committed to saving lives on roads in India and beyond since 2008. Best known for getting India a Good Samaritan Law and developing an award-winning model for reducing fatalities on Indian highways. Appointed in 2021 to the National Road Safety Council, Government of India. Piyush has been an Ashoka Fellow, Echoing Green Fellow, Rainer Arnhold Fellow, and DRKF Entrepreneur. He has also been featured by The New York Times, National Geographic and Time Magazine, among others. In 2016, Piyush was named by GQ as one of the Most Influential Young Indians. He is also the recipient of the Rolex Award for Enterprise and recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2019. Prior to SaveLIFE Foundation, Piyush served as the Managing Director of the Calibrated Group, a US-based private equity fund. Quit the private sector to establish SLF following the tragic road crash death of a young family member. Previously served as Program Manager at the India Brand Equity Fund, an initiative of the Prime Minister of India.

Piyush is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School.

SaveLIFE FOUNDATION’s focus is on collecting, compiling and generating authentic, verifiable data and information on Road Safety and Emergency Care in India and across the world. Based on original, expert-reviewed research and data, we propose policy changes in two broad areas: Accident Prevention and Post-Accident Response.
