Pension fund are playing an increasing role in devising and advancing solutions to some of society’s most significant challenges.
Ashby Monk, Executive and Research Director of the Stanford Global Projects Center, will discuss how pension funds can lead and gain the capabilities for deep innovation by reorienting their strategies and organizations around advanced technology. Ashby will delve a bit deeper and discuss why technology has historically failed pension funds and describe practical changes that can be made to unlock the power of technology for them.
ABOUT DR ASHBY MONK
Dr. Ashby Monk is the Executive and Research Director of the Stanford Global Projects Center, Stanford University. He is a distinguished scholar, practitioner, and entrepreneur and was named by CIO Magazine as one of the most influential academics in the institutional investing world. Ashby’s research and writing have been featured in The Economist, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Institutional Investor, Reuters, Forbes, and on National Public Radio among other media. His current research focus is on governance of institutional investors, with particular specialization on pension and sovereign wealth funds. Outside Stanford, together with other innovative ventures, he is the co-founder and Chairman of Long Game Savings and a Senior Adviser to Lighthouse Infrastructure. Ashby received his Doctorate in Economic Geography at Oxford University and holds a Master's in International Economics from the Universite de Paris I - Pantheon Sorbonne and a Bachelor's in Economics from Princeton University.
